Meet Mrs Fellows

We are delighted to introduce Mrs Fellows to the team, as Class 4 Teacher. As always, to help us get to know her a little better we asked her a few questions…
🎇 Tell us a little about your background?
I have been a teacher for 20 years, however teaching is my third career. I was a retail manager, a logistics manager and then got into teaching after having my daughter 20 years ago. GBA will be the fourth school I've worked at - all in the Learn Academies Trust.
As well as being a class teacher, I have worked with the school’s direct trainee teachers to teach them about maths pedagogy. I have introduced, and facilitated, research-informed lesson study at two schools and have been a coach and mentor in all the schools I have worked at.
My hobby is dance - I take tap, street, jazz and contemporary classes and perform on stage in the annual dance show, which is beyond doubt the best weekend of the year. I love to travel my favourite places so far have been Italy (I visited Pompei) and Cuba.
🎇 What did you want to be when you were at school?
When I was at primary school, I wanted to be a dance teacher, but as I got to A-levels I wanted to be a criminologist.
🎇 What made you want to become a teacher?
Having my daughter Paige and wanting the best for her is what made me want to get into teaching, and it was the best decision I made. I love it now as much as ever.
🎇 What are you most excited about working at Great Bowden Academy?
I can't wait to join GBA as everyone is so friendly, helpful and welcoming and I am looking forward to being part of such a positive team.
🎇 Final, and most important question, which do you prefer - sweet or savoury?
I have a sweet tooth, although I try very hard to eat healthily.
A very warm welcome to Mrs Fellows from all of us. We can’t wait to have you in the team.
